Sharpening Your Skills
We all know that the time it takes to find a job has lengthened considerably. The economic downturn has hurt industries across the board. Medical transcription has not been spared. Starting a job hunt now is a daunting process, and as the months go by with nary a nibble it gets scarier by the day.

How incredibly stressful! However, there is something you can do to keep your mind off the agonizing test and wait process. If you consider testing as a way to both maintain and sharpen your skill set: you can turn the negative of waiting into a positive. You are typing different reports which is giving you experience. You may find it hard to think about this stressful process in this fashion, but the more positive your mind set the more confident you will become.
Make a pact with yourself to practice at least one hour a day. The act of transcribing every day will ensure that you are always prepared to test. The more prepared you are the more confident you feel: thus increasing the chances of obtaining excellent scores. Obviously the higher you score the greater the chances you will receive a job offer. Before you know it you are a working MT!
You can also increase your keyboarding skills by using one of the many sites available for this. Just a few days ago I started using this website. It’s fun and there are many bells and whistles that go along with it. I think it might help me out. I will let you know how it turns out as time goes by. Here it is. Make sure you watch the videos, they are pretty amazing.
Practice makes perfect so give it a try. One hour a day and keep a journal of your progress. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a few words about how you are progressing. Give it a try and I think you will be pleased with the results.
