I Have a Problem
November 8th, 2009Hello, my name is Serena and I am a bookaholic. I try to be frugal and use the library and other resources that are available. However, the main problem I have is that I am a re-reader. I have been known to read the same books over and over and over. In fact, there are many books that I have read to tatters. I have paperbacks that are held together with rubber bands and masking tape. I also have books that I am on the second, third, or sometimes fourth copy of because I have read them until they couldn’t be held together anymore. There are no 12-step programs available for this problem that I know of, so the problem continues. I am not the only family member with this problem.
Update: Jobs Database
July 13th, 2009On July 5, 2009, PACE Transcription went live with the new jobs database. I am very pleased with the response so far. The reaction has been very positive and several people have contacted me to say that they like the format. One of the things that I like the most about the database is the easy to use search features, and the feedback I have received has shown that visitors to the site agree with this.
Thank you for your positive responses and I will continue to work at getting more medical transcription jobs posted on the site. The jobs do change and you never know when you will run across that “perfect fit.” Tell your friends about the site even if they aren’t medical transcriptionists. There are jobs available in many different careers.
Check back often and I wish you luck on the hunt!
Homeschool Humor
June 17th, 2009Sometimes it is hard to maintain a sense of humor when you homeschool. We have been homeschooling for a long time, and for all that time we have been asked the same questions over and over. I equate it with my vegetarian best friend being told every time she gets sick, “You need to eat a hamburger, you’ll be stronger.” I can pretty much guarantee that she is sick of hearing that. I would also guarantee that she is about as sick of that statement as I am of being asked, “What about socialization?”
Transcription and Homeschooling
June 6th, 2009I know of many stay-at-home mothers who homeschool their children. My family is a homeschooling family. My daughter has never been to public school. I was lucky in that my husband had a career that allowed me to be home without being required to work during most of the primary school years. These years were the most labor intensive for us as homeschoolers. Looking back, I am not sure that I would have been able to maintain any type of employment during this time.
However, given the current economic climate, I would wager that many homeschooling families are dealing with the same issues that are affecting all of us. The working member of the household may have had their work hours reduced or been laid off. This puts the homeschool administrator in the position of being required to return to work to keep the household going.
