Quote of the Day
April 27th, 2010“When life demands more of people than they demand of life, as is ordinarily the case, what results is a resentment of life almost as deep-seated as the fear of death.”
Tom Robbins-American novelist.

Quote of the Day
January 26th, 2010This is a quotation from Lord Acton, in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton, 1887:
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."
Acton was preceded by William Pitt the Elder, who voiced a similar thought in a House of Lords speech in 1770:
"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it; and this I know, my lords, that where laws end, tyranny begins."
I have found that this is one of the most accurate quotes I have ever heard. It happens all the time. You will find them running countries and running small companies. I know that many of you work for supervisors that bear this out. They don’t like to be challenged so handle them with kid gloves. Seriously.
Winter
December 4th, 2009Andrew Wyeth is one of my favorite painters. His work, to me, speaks of loneliness and longing but also love of life and appreciation of the things around you. Common images that are made uncommon by his perspective. Today's quote is from him about the coming season. I love winter!
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show.
Andrew Wyeth.
Be of Good Cheer!
November 24th, 2009This quote is for all of you out there that are starting new jobs in the transcription profession. Do not be discouraged. QA is hard to take but if you consider the quote below perhaps it will make it easier. No one likes to have their faults listed one by one in a numbered error report but if you absorb what it being said, even if it is said in a less than kind way, it will make you better in the long run. Be of good cheer.
Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.
Robert Frost.
Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets. Especially this one.
