Alice in Wonderland
March 22nd, 2010This weekend I took my daughter and one of her friends to see Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” I have yet to see a Tim Burton film I did not like, starting with “James and the Giant Peach.” This one did not change that opinion. This is a 3-D film.
Incredible Talent
March 15th, 2010We came across this video this weekend. These kids are so incredibly talented that I decided to post it here. Their music instructor must be the coolest guy around. Enjoy!
WARNING: If you have a problem with this type of music then don't watch it. Practice self-censorship and no one else will have to do it for you.
Transcription Job Scams
October 9th, 2009Obviously lots of people are having trouble finding gainful employment these days. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 9.8%, according to the government figures from August of this year. Of course, most economists agree that this is not an accurate figure since it does not reflect the number of people who have given up on searching for a job and people who are underemployed; this refers to people who may desire full time employment but are forced to accept part time work.
Text Expanders
September 21st, 2009I would like to say a few words about text expanders. There are many text expanders available and you will find that all of them have transcriptionists who love them or hate them. You will also find that many MTSOs require the use of certain expanders. I have also heard of just a few companies that do not allow the use of expanders at all. (A very few, and this is based on pretty old information so I doubt there are many of these dinosaurs left).
Oh No, I Spent Too Much On My Training!
July 30th, 2009Ok, the title is very sarcastic. I just couldn’t resist. I am actually appalled and amazed that one of our local community colleges is actually giving people the impression that this will help them get a job. This is the “certificate” program that they offer for medical transcription. You have got to be kidding me! No really. It has to be a joke. I paid what I considered to be a reasonable price to do this, when all this time I could have saved myself hundreds of dollars for a “certificate.” I want my money back!
